Recent data shows over 40% of Americans believe in ghosts. Nearly 1/3 believe in gremlins (AMC or otherwise). A scant majority are convinced the Keebler Elves pull the strings of the Illuminati. Ah, but there’s a statistic for everything these days… 64% of people know that… I for one believe my garden gnome has spoken to me on two non-consecutive occasions. Okay, maybe not spoken-spoken, but gave me a sideways glance when I swung the weed eater in his direction and I swear those dead little painted eyes followed me. I’m somewhat afraid to up and dispose of the wee fella…
What is NOT scary is the J Ryan Trio Halloween Extravaganza at Ally’s Bistro this Friday – music from 6pm to 8pm. I’ve sung 8 verses of Monster Mash to myself while working in the garage last weekend– got it aaaaalll out of my system so no fear in hearing that one during our set. We will, however, play Stevie Wonder’s Superstition and Atlanta Rhythm Sections 1972 classic: Spooky. You’ve got an extra hour this weekend as we set our clocks back – why not spend it with us at Ally’s?
As we have a number of private events slated for the balance of November and early Dec, next chance to catch us out and about will be at the Jazz Gallery this Dec 13.
I’m also seeing our 2026 calendar start to fill up – thus if we might be a blessing in music to you in ’26, or if you simply would like to lure ryan into a taze-able situation, simply let me know.
Happy Halloween!
